Mayberry In Midwest fiddle player says New Castle hit all the right chords
Posted July 29, 2002
My life has been enhanced by my visit to New Castle, IN. I was the fat boy playing the bass fiddle with the Darling boys. As you know by now Mitch Jayne has curtailed his playing because of deafness and I was picked to stand in for him.
Over the past 55 years I have been privileged to play music in communities of all sizes. I have never been more impressed with efforts in any locale as I am with your highly organized and efficient operation of Mayberry In The Midwest. From the Mayor to the people serving food and drink, every person showed the community spirit that it takes to make any effort successful.
Your law enforcement organizations were outstanding. I am personally very pleased that I can now consider Sgt. Dave Cantrell a good friend.
Hats off to the entire community of New Castle. Whether or not you choose to repeat the effort of 2002 you can rest assured you have done an outstanding job. Thanks to you all.
